How I Am My Mother

Image
Happy Birthday Mom. This post is for you.  Now, I know you do not read my blog that often, mostly because you are mega busy and partially because no one reads my blog that often, but  I figured a blog post would be a unique part of my gift to you on your birthday this year.  I know I have told you this before, but you are remarkable. I tell you every Mother's Day or every time your birthday swings around, but it is true. I write you lovely cards where I sit down and reflect on how lucky I am that you are mine. MY mother. ALL MINE. I always manage to write you a very deep and thought out letter describing your presence in my life and I know that you are always so grateful. I think I just want you to be constantly (well, twice a year) reminded of how much you mean to me and how you are simply the most amazing woman I know.  I remember writing in the photo album I made you - the "thank you for throwing me a kick ass grad party and spending so much money on...

Song of the Week No. 7

Image
Hello! So this week's song is "Lovesick" by the Friendly Fires. Their music makes me want to dance! Check this song out and let me know what you think. Coming up: a July Music post in a few days, as well as a Monthly Favorites! Also, my mother's birthday is in a couple days and I have a special post dedicated to her. Make sure to check them all out and leave your links below :)

I Heart Summer Tag

Image
Hello there! I was recently tagged by Sinead from  Dreaming Again  and Maddie from  Ring-a-Round a Rosey  to do this tag. I cannot believe how quickly this summer is flying by - I go back to school in about a month. Here are a few of my summer favorites: 1. Favourite bronzer for the summer? I must admit that I do not use a bronzer at all but instead use a pressed setting powder to give a light but matte finish to my look. At the moment I am using  Covergirl's Clean Pressed Powder  in Classic Ivory. I really would love to try a bronzer out though so if you have any suggestions on a good one, let me know! 2. You're relaxing on a hammock on a tropical island, what would you be sipping on? Strawberry lemonade! Probably in a mason jar with a slice of lemon. 3. Favourite summer lipstick? I am absolutely, madly, deeply in love with the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks. My favorite is  103  because it is a great shade for my skin tone and hair color....

Quote of the Day No. 6

YES. Being yourself, your quirky, nerdy, weird, spastic, self is always the best. When you are being yourself, you feel refreshed. You can sit back and say what you want to say, do what you want to do, dance the way you wanna dance, eat what you want to eat, ya know?  Putting on a façade is a) not cool and b) kinda difficult because inside you are cringing at how you wish you did not have to pretend you are not in love with One Direction or deny you have seen almost every episode of Disney channel's  Good Luck Charlie  with your younger sister and you actually enjoyed it.  I have found in my nineteen and a half years of life that you must surround yourself with people who allow you to be you. People with whom you can feel comfortable being as crazy or as reserved as you want to be at any given moment. People with whom you don't have to hold your tongue in fear of rejection or judgement during a discussion on politics or spirituality or morals (or whatev...

TO TRAVEL IS TO AWAKEN

Image
So hello there!  Boy, have I missed writing blog posts everyday. Currently I am home (until Friday when I leave for D.C.) and I thought I would give you a little peak inside both of my trips! I went from coast to coast in ten days, traveling by plane (Cleveland to Las Vegas to Portland), car (Cleveland to Pittsburgh), bus (Pittsburgh to NYC), and train (NYC to Madison). It was exhausting but exhilarating.  I am going to just dive right in so here we go: PORTLAND These are just a few of the photos from Portland. The top left was at Cannon Beach where the Goonies (one of my childhood favorites) was filmed. The bottom right was on Mt. Hood. We were 6,000 feet high in that photo. Portland was simply beautiful. The landscape and just the amount of trees everywhere was awe-inspiring. We also drove to Washington basically just to say we had been there as it was only about a ten minute drive across the Oregon/Washington border from our hotel. All in all the trip was...

Song of the Week No. 6

Image
Hello there! I am currently in New Jersey and I apologize for not posting for over a week. I promise a post on Portland with many exciting stories and photos, as well as a post on my NY/NJ trip as soon as I get home - expect it early next week :) So cracking on with the post, I have been listening to loads of music lately (well, as usual really). Whilst traveling, music helps pass the time and it inspires me as I wait to arrive at my destination. In choosing the song for this past week, I would have to go with "New York" by Paloma Faith. In my June Music post I talked about how I have been loving her and her funky vibe.  Check it out if you haven't already and let me know what you think! Hope you have all been well and enjoying the July heat! (I am currently suffering from about thirty bug bites all over my body from being outside a bit too much these past three days... UH OH .) xx

I'm Traveling!

Image
( image) So hello there my lovely readers! How have you all been?  I absolutely love to travel.  Just from attending my university in New Jersey (which is about 8-9 hours away from my home town in Cleveland) and meeting new people who have invited me home with them, I traveled to FOUR states that I had never been to before (Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Massachusetts).  I have a map of the world in my bedroom which I sometimes find myself gazing at, having day dreams about me traveling the world. I have probably been to more places than most adults have so far in my life but I aspire to see so much more!  My dream places to travel to right now are Australia, Greece, Italy, and Slovenia. What is/are yours? So the point of this post though is to tell you that I have a very busy few weeks ahead of me! I am hoping that I will be able to keep up with my blogging but I don't know how often I will be able to post. Here's the low down: On Thursd...

INSTA-WEEK No. 5

Image
So here's another recap of my week in photos! I tried taking photos of fireworks on July 4th but whilst attempting, I realized that it was not going to work from where I was with my iPhone camera :( But I hope you all had a good fourth of July week! Cute Mugs // Fourth of July visiting our Grandparents grave // Purchased my The xx and Poliça tickets   Probably the worst show I have ever seen // Pink lemonade and gummy vitamins // Surprisingly strong gum My grandmother and grandfather's grave // Two of my necklaces that I forgot at a friend's house I hope you enjoy these little week in photos posts! xx

July Wishlist

Image
1.) Raglan Sleeve Skater Dress -  Topshop . I ADORE this dress but unfortunately it is sold out of Topshop at the moment - it was only $25 too... :( I do however have high hopes of getting my hands on a similar dress for this summer - possibly from ASOS or Forever 21.  2.) Worth Every Scent Wallet - $20  Modcloth . I am in desperate need of a new wallet. My old one is literally falling apart. I got it about three years ago when shopping with some friends in a small town in New Jersey at a place called Jenna & Molly. I am glad I stumbled upon this one on Modcloth because it looks very similar to my current one and is about the same price. Hopefully it will last me as long as my current one!  3.) Tiny Triangle Ring - $58  BaubleBar . I have really been getting into tiny rings lately that are very thin and subtle. I have a little flower one that I am wearing on my pinky and I would love to get a triangle one to fit my index or mid...

Monthly Favorites: June!

Image
Hello there my lovelies! June has ended and now it is time for a monthly favorites post!  I thought I would start off with my favorite beauty, skin care, and hair products. First, the beauty products: The Pink Punch Baby Lips smells amazing and gives my lips a pale, baby pink sheen. I would recommend when wearing Baby Lips to apply a lip balm underneath to add moisture and you are good to go. I did just get the Maybelline Master Smoky Eyeliner (in Black Smoke) a week ago, but I can already tell from using it these past six days that it is a keeper. I wear this on my under-eye water line paired with a liquid or gel eyeliner on my top lid. It goes on quite smoothly and stays in place for a long time. In the bottom left corner is my Estée Lauder Deluze All-Over Face Compact which features two silky powder blushes in Rose Wood (left) and Nude Rose (center) and a soft matte bronzer (right). I really like contouring with the two blushes. I must admit though that si...

June Music!

Image
Hello my lovelies! So I thought I would let you know what I have been listening to this past month! On top of all the artists I featured in my Song of the Week posts (my most recent one is here ), these are four of my favorite artists/bands from June.  I recognize that not all people have the same taste in music but I would definitely recommend checking these out if you haven't heard of them just to experience and try something new! So the first is Paloma Faith , an English singer. She is so quirky and fierce! I have especially been loving her album "Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful" - particularly these songs: "Upside Down" , "Romance is Dead" , "New York" and "Stone Cold Sober" .  Next featured artist is Alt-J , an English indie rock band. I am going to see them in concert in NYC in September and I couldn't be more excited! I just got into them this month and I would recommend checking out "Fitzpl...

Liebster Award

Image
Hello there lovelies! So I am very excited and grateful that the lovely Claresloves has nominated me for the Liebster Award.  This tag comes with some rules so heres a quick heads up: 1.  Each nominee must answer the 11 questions that were asked by the blogger that nominated them. 2.  You must choose 11 bloggers with under 200 followers to pass the award onto. 3.  Then make 11 questions for them to answer. 4. Go to their page and tell them about their nomination. 5.  No tag backs. 'Claresloves' asks: 1. All time favourite lipstick? I would have to go with MAC Meltdown (Frost) 2. A skincare product you cant live without? Clinique Take the Day Off Makeup Remover  3. If you could only use one beauty/makeup product again what would it be? Mascara! My whole face just looks brighter and more awake when I have it on 4. A blog you love reading? I love reading Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter   5....
