Monthly Favorites: MAY!

Hello there lovelies! This is my first monthly favorite post and I am so excited to show you what I have been loving. I have several different categories of things. Please excuse the crappy photography until I get my dream camera (hopefully within the next month).

So let's do this!
First off is the makeup product that has been my best friend this month, particularly because I have been wearing warmer colors which in turn has caused me to wear this quite often. It is a Mac Frost lipstick called Meltdown. It goes on very pigmented (orangey) and it shines and shimmers, bringing out my auburn hair and brown eyes. I think this is a great summer lip color and I can't wait to pair it with summer looks.

Now, I have mentioned the Tresemmé Tres Two Spray in my Alphabet tag as being one of my two favorite hairsprays. I just thought it deserves to be mentioned a second time because it is very special to me as I use it almost everyday. I absolutely adore the smell and it holds really well.

My other hair product favorite this month is the Garnier Fructis Color Shield Color Sealer Lightweight Leave-In for Color Treated Hair. Whoa, that is a mouthful. Anyway, since I have dyed my hair many a time, I feel it is necessary to keep my hair extra healthy. I use the Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner that correspond with this leave-in and I find it makes my hair shine and feel healthy. I just pour a bit from the bottle onto my hand and then finger through my hair, making sure to distribute it thoroughly and evenly.

My next favorite is a limited edition shower gel by LUSH called Snow Fairy. Normally I am not crazy about the flavor of bubble gum, but the smell of it is heavenly! Not only is the packaging adorable, but they also personalize the bottle by putting a little sticker on it telling you what employee of LUSH made your specific product. Also, check out the "How to Use" in the photo below - so cute!

 Now is Good

Now, to be blunt... this movie is extremely sad. I have a very strong love-hate relationship with sad movies, particularly because I will openly weep during and after one even in public. However, this movie is so moving and beautiful. Jeremy Irvine and Dakota Fanning took my breath away. I felt as I was watching the movie that I was experiencing everything with the characters - anger, relief, surprise, hopelessness, happiness. I became so enveloped. So please see this if you haven't already!

Bachelorette
This is my favorite comedy of the month! This movie, which I would classify as a sort of a female version of The Hangover, has an amazing cast, with actors such as Kirsten Dunst, Rebel Wilson, Isla Fischer (one of my favorite actresses), Lizzy Caplan (Janis Ian from Mean Girls), Adam Scott, and James Marsden. It is quite inappropriate for anyone under 17 (it is indeed rated R); however, it is clever, quotable, and had me constantly laughing out loud.

Perfume by Patrick Suskind

As a part of my honors course this past semester, we were required to read this as our last assignment in early May. The vivid imagery created by Suskind's eloquent and descriptive words was captivating. The story itself was downright disturbing. I do not want to give away too much but the main character, who has an extraordinary and almost superhuman gift of discerning scents, kills young girls to capture their smell. The ending was a shock and left me with mixed emotions. It is not a light or easy read but definitely worthwhile!

My favorite food this month has got to be strawberriesFor breakfast (when I am not having a Luna Bar), I like to cut up three or four strawberries and add that to Greek yogurt and granola. It is very yummy and makes me feel healthy for the start of my day.

My favorite drink this month has been ice cold water with a slices of lemon & lime.

It's so refreshing and cleanses my system throughout the day! I refill my Mason jar with water (still keeping the same slices all day) probably five times per day.

So that concludes my list of May favorites! I realize that I have not been talking much about fashion on my blog but I assure you, I have many plans for when I can actually take decent photos.
I hope you enjoyed this post and leave a comment below if you'd like!

  1. Snow Fairy is my favorite shower gel from Lush! It's a little pricey, but definitely worth the money!

    1. Yes!! I wish LUSH was not as pricey... but maybe it's a good thing because I would spend all of my money there!
