DIY Crafts: Notebook & Mason Jars

Hello there!
So lately I have become addicted to Pinterest (again). As I am preparing to go back to school, I have been feeling really inspired to try out some DIY projects for my dorm!

1) This first DIY is to spruce up a regular old spiral notebook and make it awesome.
I got the idea from a pin of Melisa from Pie 'N' The Sky's triangle love notebook. When I saw it, I immediately thought, I can do that - I should give it a whirl!

All you need is...
- a notebook (mine had a plain black cover and was $1 from Target)
- glue (I used Rubber Cement but a glue stick would work perfectly fine as well)
- scissors
- photos / magazine clippings / cardboard **
- Mod Podge and a brush

** I used snippings from National Geographic, Vogue, and Seventeen, as well as construction paper to write lyrics from my fav song. I also took my 'Mylo Xyloto' Coldplay album and cut a pattern from the insert in the CD with photos of them playing at concerts.

Now...
Cut your photos/clippings into triangles and glue them each down. Then coat a thin layer of Mod Podge to ensure that none of the ends start to peel. Let dry for 15-20 minutes and there you go!

2) In this next DIY, I made a spunky pencil and pen holder.

You will need...
- a mason jar
- glue (I used rubber cement again)
- paint and brush
- glitter

**I used Folk Art Gold Metallic Acrylic Paint

So...
Cover your mason jar in glue- this is why I prefer rubber cement because you have a nice brush that is easy to guide around the jar. Whilst turning the jar, pour glitter over the glue to coat the jar. Let dry over night. Separately, paint the top of the mason jar to give it a more complete look. Depending on what paint you use, let dry for several hours. Put the two back together and voilà!

3) This last DIY is very similar to number two. I made a unique holder to keep all my quarters for laundry when I go back to college.

What you need...
- mason jar
- paint
- flower

This one is quite simple! All I did was paint the mason jar with three coats of purple wall paint (left over from when my sister painted the walls of our room). I let each coat dry for several hours. Then I spray painted the lid pink and red. And, well, that's about it!! You can spruce it up in any way you wish. I am choosing to not have the actually lid on but keep the band for a pop of color. Then I can just pour the quarters out for easy access.

So that's it! I will have a few more DIY posts in the next couple weeks as I prepare to go back to college.  I hope you enjoyed this post - let me know what you think!!
